Phuket offers plenty of options to experience diving at its best both for amateurs as well as seasoned diving professionals. As the water is very warm, there is not even the need to cover oneself in a wetsuit although this is still highly recommended if you are serious about your diving endeavours.

The underwater landscape can be described as amazing and covers a plethora of different fish species, shiny corals as well as plenty of reefs still untouched by human intervention. Various places scattered all around Phuket and the surrounding islands invite you to snorkel your way to happiness. In order to find your preferred diving spot you might have to try out a few places. Phi Phi Island, Kata Beach and Freedom Beach are just a few recommendations we can give you as a starter. These can be reached by boat, the rates charged for transportation vary, so it is always good to ask around for the cheapest price available at the moment.

If you are serious about snorkeling and diving, we strongly recommend making a daytrip to a location a bit further away from Phuket. This way, you avoid the crowded spots and can enjoy the tranquility and magic of the sea without bumping into fellow divers every few metres. Taking a ferry to Phi Phi Island, spending the daytime diving and enjoying the sunset afterwards is a wonderful combination. Heading into the vibrant nightlife later on is a surefire way to experience a great daytrip and allows you to reflect upon all the images you have seen underwater.

Enjoy Nature without destroying it

One reminder you should always keep in mind: Leave the undersea environment untouched so that other fellow divers can experience the same beauty and appreciate it in the same manner as you did. Although your family will surely appreciate a souvenir from underseas, nature and the local population certainly do not. Many of the various plants, corals and others are very fragile and it is very likely that you will do harm to them by touching. So please try not to touch anything underseas.




Proper preparation and safety is an important factor in the enjoyment of scuba diving. The safety record in Phuket is excellent. There are many dive shops, some of the best diving instructors, world class divemasters and some of the best diving world wide in Phuket.

It is important to carefully select a company to dive with and then allow them to do their job. It is their job to make sure you are safe and entertained. Phuket is the ideal place to find a certified diver to upgrade diving skill level.

The Andaman Sea is an underwater classroom in warm turquoise blue waters. The nearby dive shops offer a range of classes that you can earn your PADI or NAUI certification. Dive ASIA on Kata beach was recently upgraded to a five star PADI school, and the only five star school in Phuket and on of just two in Southeast Asia.

To take on of these course you need nothing more than the desire to do it. You don’t need to be in good shape because the course are leisurely and enjoyable. You can rent your equipment right from the dive shop.

Discover Scuba Diving Courses

This an enjoyable and safe way to experience diving for the first time. The instructor goes over basic theory and equipment knowledge. Then, they will take you on a guided dive of limited depth. You will practice near the shore in shallow water.

After that, you will go on two open ocean dives with close supervision. These dives will be near a coral reef or in the clear water of Ko Raja Island. The cost of the course includes your equipment, lunch, boat trip and instruction with a certified dive instructor.

This PADI course is also great for people who haven’t dived in some time and need a refresher. The dive instructor will go over everything and make sure you still have all the knowledge required to dive safely. You can even take a half day course with instruction in shallow water and the classroom.

Open Water Diver Course
This beginner course is internationally recognized and it is designed to provided you with all the skills and knowledge to explore the ocean. When you complete this course you are qualified for the PADI Open Water Diver Certification. This means you dive anywhere in the world.

This course has both theory and practice sessions. During the first two days you will have academic training and shallow water skill practice sessions. The last two days you will have four supervised open water dives when you can explore the reefs and wonderment of the Andaman Sea.

Your training will either include open water training on 4 different beaches or two 1 day trips depending on what time of year it is. The PADI Open Water Diver Manual, diving equipment, a t-shirt, log book and PADI registration is included in your course fee.

Advanced Open water Course
This course takes an entire two days. This course teaches advanced diving skills while you dive on location at Phuket’s reefs. There is minimal classroom time during this hands on course.

Once the required academic training is out of the way you will take 3 core dives. There is an underwater navigation dive, a diving to deep levels dive and a night dive. Two elective dives are also required and may include multilevel diving, boat diving, drift dicing, under water naturalist and search and recovery diving.


PADI First Response Diving
This is a one day course that teaches emergency care for diver and non-diver. The course covers CPR, resuscitation and other lifesaving skills. To take this course you must take PADI Rescue Diver Course first.

PADI Rescue Diver Course
This course for advanced divers teaches self rescue skills, accident management and prevention. It also teaches how to handle diving emergencies. You will learn ho to recognize, prevent and deal with diving related problems.

This course is and enjoyable way to develop more experience dive skills and become a safer more responsible diver. It is a 3 day course that has both academic training and 5 underwater training sessions.

PADI Divemaster Course
This is a demanding and exciting dive course that gives you the first step towards professional diving. The course takes 3-4 weeks, during which time you will sharpen your dive skills and knowledge until you are at the level of a professional instructor. By course end you will be a dive expert that has the ability to safely lead a group dive through any type of diving.

If diving is a a passion of yours and you are considering professional diving this course may be for you. If you feel you are ready to be responsible for others safety and welfare and you love the ocean and diving you are ready to be a PADI Divemaster.

PADI Speciality Course
These course are designed to teach advanced diving skills like underwater photography, search and recovery or underwater naturalist. They are great for divers who want more detailed knowledge in one specific aspect of diving. Most course take two complete days.
