Ao Sane beach is one of the best kept secrets in Phuket as most travelers and tourists are not aware of its existence. This is why most people that you will meet at the beautiful Ao Sane beach are either local Phuket residents or Phuket expats. The beach at Ao Sane beach is a mixture of sand and rock and there are plenty of trees where you can lie under in case you don’t want to get burned up in the hot sun.

Ao Sane beach is two hundred meters in length and is a popular meeting point for frequent Phuket visitors and expats. Please do not expect a wide range of amenities and facilities however if you are simply looking for a beautiful and peaceful Phuket beach then Ao Sane beach might very well be the Phuket beach that you are looking for.

Ao Sane Beach Location


Ao Sane beach is located along the more developed West coast of Phuket. The easiest way to find Ao Sane beach is by heading down to the more well known Nai Harn Beach as it is located right next to that Phuket beach. Once you get to Nai Harn beach then you should follow the signs to the upscale Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club and drive down the road that will take you through this popular 5 star deluxe Phuket resort. The road will then take you up and down a small hill. Once you get to the other side you will encounter a parking lot. Just park your car or motorbike there and follow the path down to Ao Sane beach.

To reach Nai Harn beach you can either drive south from Kata beach and Kata Noi beach or you can drive westbound from the Rawai beach and Chalong area.

Ao Sane Beach Activities


When it comes to organized activities at Ao Sane beach you might be slightly disappointed as there are not any. Ao Sane beach is rather underdeveloped when it comes to hotels and restaurants which is why there are no places at Ao Sane beach that offer diving or jet skiing for example. This is however the charm of Ao Sane beach which is why this Phuket beach is so very popular with local Thai residents and Phuket expats.

The water of the Andaman Sea at Ao Sane beach is however ideal for swimming and snorkeling however. If you enjoy snorkeling then you should take your own snorkeling gear with you as there are no places to rent any at Ao Sane beach. There is one place at Ao Sane beach where you can use the bathroom and shower facilities.

Ao Sane Beach Restaurants


There is only one restaurant located at Ao Sane beach. This popular Ao Sane beach restaurant has some of the nicest and friendliest waiting staff found anywhere on Phuket and the food that they serve is generally of a good quality. The menu prices are surprisingly inexpensive which is probably why this Ao Sane beach restaurant has so many repeat customers. The restaurant at Ao Sane beach serves Western food as well as lovely Thai dishes and fresh Andaman seafood. You could also simply drive down to Nai Harn beach where there are a lot more restaurants to choose from.
